I started studying photography while in high school in the 1970s, and quickly fell in love with the art form. I was fortunate to attend an experimental high school that had a media program where we produced audio-visual materials that were used in our school’s public events and classrooms.

Before the start of my last year of high school I completed the Nikon School of Photography.

After high school I studied photography at the Visual Arts Department of CEGEP du Vieux Montréal.

In the mid-1980s I studied photography under Gerry Blitstein (who had been a leading technical advisor for Nikon) in Vancouver.

My work (creative and commissioned) has appeared in print and electronic publications since the 1970s. My photographs are displayed in offices and residences around the world.

These days I combine my passion for photography with my passion for travel, discovering new physical and cultural environments through my love of beautiful images.

I chose to name this site stark beauty because people have referred to my photographs as stark (a description I like), and I've always aimed to produce beautiful, inspiring images. While creating my personal interpretation of a place or object I try to stay true to its essence, often by keeping the image simple, devoid of unnecessary elements.
